Northwest Boise, 83703: Collister, Pierce Park and the Foothill Gulches
83703 is the northwest corner of the city. Collister, Pierce Park and Castle Hills climb off State Street toward the foothills, Quail Hollow golf course sits in the middle of the ZIP, and Veterans Memorial Park and Esther Simplot Park hold its edge along the river. Polecat Gulch Reserve is the brown slope above Collister that most of these streets look up at.
Which way out of northwest Boise toward Ontario?
West on the surface roads, for once. State Street is Highway 44 and runs out through Eagle, Star and Middleton to meet I-84 past Caldwell. Chinden Boulevard carries US 20/26 through Garden City toward Caldwell on a parallel line. Heading south to the Connector means crossing the river and the downtown grid before you ever reach the interstate.
Either western route puts the whole Canyon County stretch behind you before the trailer sees a freeway ramp.
Where do riders from 83703 go on a weekend?
North, most of them. Highway 55 leaves Eagle for Horseshoe Bend and the Payette canyon, and from Horseshoe Bend the Harris Creek road climbs over the summit and down into the Boise Basin at Placerville. That gravel loop suits a dual-sport bike or a trail side-by-side, and it links to the Idaho City side of the basin for a longer day.
The gulches above the neighborhood are a different matter. Polecat Gulch is a hiking and mountain-bike reserve, so the machine lives on the trailer until the pavement ends somewhere past Horseshoe Bend.
What does the trip to Ontario buy a Collister household?
A dozen makes on one floor and a track to ride them on. For a buyer torn between a Honda Pioneer and a Polaris General for the Harris Creek loop, an afternoon of seat time answers the question better than two separate dealer visits across the valley.
Service is the second half. Oregon charges no sales tax, so parts and labor cost the counter price, and the drive back for a warranty visit runs the same State Street route you already know.
About an hour west: out State Street or Chinden to Caldwell, then I-84 across the Snake.
